Accessories To Personalize Your Golf Bag

A golf bag full of golf clubs might just be a golfer's most prized possession. Vast amounts of money can be invested into the contents of a golf bag, and so you should keep it as safe and as treasured as you possibly can. When you first get your golf bag and golf clubs, you should do everything you can to personalize it and make it your own. This will lead to familiarity with your clubs and therefore more efficiency when you are out playing the game. It will also give you a real sense of ownership. Here I will discuss some of the accessories you can buy for your golf bag in order to increase its aesthetic appeal or its functionality and usefulness.

By putting all of your clubs into the golf bag, it is highly unlikely that you have filled it all the way up. There will be more room in the various compartments and pockets that decorate the outside of the bag. You should not leave these empty. Instead, fill them up with anything you could need out on the course. Put an extra water bottle in one of the pockets for when you get thirsty. Put a first aid kit in another pocket just in case something should happen. You should also include all of the obvious choices if you didn't already   golf balls in large quantities, tees, and any other items you frequently use when golfing.

Once you have all of the practical accessories for golf bags taken care of, you can start to get into the more "fun" novelty items. There is no shortage of things you can attach to your golf club, whether it's to get a laugh from your friends or simply to remind you of something. Little plush keychain-like items can be attached at many points all across the golf bag. This could be a small stuffed golf ball, or some sort of figurine. If there is something that you would like to have, it should come to mind immediately. You shouldn't have to strain yourself to think of something to decorate your golf bag with.

If you want an easy way to identify your golf bag, you can have your name attached to it somehow. This could be in the form of some sort of embroidery project (do you have a girlfriend, wife, or daughter who embroiders as a hobby? Maybe it's time to ask for a favor) or simply some scribbles with a sharpie. It doesn't matter how you get it done, but it's very important that you have some indication that the golf bag is yours in the event that it gets lost on the golf course. When someone recognizes your name and returns your expensive clubs, you will be glad that you put the name on the bag.

There is no limit to the ways that you can personalize your golf bag with accessories. However, the keyword here is "personalize". If you are taking all of your ideas from something you read on the internet, then that isn't very personal, is it? All I can do is offer you a few hints to get you started in the right direction, and from there you can decide on what exactly defines you as a person and what can help you out while you are golfing.

About Golf Carts And Their Surprising Uses About Golf Carts And Their Surprising Uses About Golf Carts And Their Surprising Uses About Golf Carts And Their Surprising Uses

Golf Carts -- An Amazingly Diversified Niche Industry

Golfers out for a Sunday afternoon game just take them for granted on the golf course, and never think about their origin. I am talking about golf carts, those miniature vehicles dotting each golf course. Even so, golf cart production is a multi-million dollar industry and different systems abound. Golf carts are manufactured as miniature cars, and golf-cart corporations provide leasing and financing choices just as the huge car corporations do.

Golf originates from a medieval game played on the coast of Scotland in the 15th century. Golfers would hit a pebble instead of a manufactured ball around the sand dunes employing a stick or wide club. As time passed, stones were exchanged for man-made balls, the earliest of which were thin leather bags stuffed with feathers. The gutta-percha ball wasn't invented until 1848 and might be hit the maximum distance of 225 yards. In 1899 rubber balls were invented that may reach distances of 430 yards if hit by a professional. Golf sticks evolved into carefully weighted golf clubs, and in the 1880's the use of golf club bags became fashionable. The caddie, a servant who carted all the player's gear aound the golf course, had his burden lessened in the early 1950's by the introduction of the uses golf cart.

The 1st golf cart manufacturers were E-Z-Go, Pargo, Harley Davidson and Cushman. The cost was astoundingly high for this era, $1200, however as even more manufacturers entered the field it dropped to $600, still a steep price for this era in inflationary terms. Fifty years later, E-Z-Go is still producing golf carts today. There are 100s of golf cart manufacturers listed online, and virtually all of these corporations specialize solely in these vehicles, and don't produce any larger cars.

The 1st golf carts were gas-powered, however recently the market has shifted to even more battery-powered systems. Golf carts can be customized just like cars, and lift kits and ATV wheels are sold to golfers who wish to express their individuality out on the course. There are corporations which specialize in creating entire custom golf cars, or even miniaturized versions of full sized cars, like the Humdinger (Humvee), mini Jeep, Rolls-Royce, Cadillac or even Mercedes-Benz.

Golf carts come in three forms: manual push/pull carts, electric motorized carts, and electric or even gas golf cars that hold passengers as well as gear. Push/pull carts have two to three wheels and a vertical support to hold a golf bag. They are basically just a manual dollies with clips and holders especially adapted for golf gear, and sell for $50 to $100. Moving higher in sophistication, motorized golf caddies cost about $500 all the way to $1000. Golf carts, which resemble dune buggies in size, begin at about $1800 for a small basic model.

Ebay has a massive choice of both new and utilized golf carts at low prices however service can be a problem with the smaller vendors. Check if the vendor has a physical store as well and is not just a reseller of a larger firm. Warranty service can be affected by this.

Manufacturers are also expanding their sales by renaming carts "Electric Utility Vehicles" and suggesting alternate utilizes for them, like hauling lawn equipment and travelling around rural properties.

A Wedding Theme Centered Around Golf

Many athletic couples who plan their wedding want to have something unique and something that centers on what they like for a sport. The game of golf is no different. Planning a wedding centered on golf can be fun, especially if the party is small and everyone enjoys the game. A wedding theme can be anything you want and if you choose golf, you will find many different ideas to plan your wedding and reception. The wedding itself can be formal in a church, but imagine planning the reception at the golf club and playing around of golf before the dinner.

You may not have ever heard of this before, so it is definitely going to be unique. Your wedding invitations can explain the plan and ask to see how many people would enjoy a day of golf after the wedding. If you are an avid golfer getting married in the summer on a Saturday, you are going to love the idea of getting married and playing a round of golf to seal the marriage. You can book the course for as many players as you are going to have and enjoy nine holes of golf that will lead into the dinner.

The reception tables can be decorated with wedding favors that pertain to golf. You might choose a golf ball with your name and date of wedding engraved or a golf ball with your picture with the date under the picture and the names on top of the picture. When it comes to golf balls, you can have them engraved with almost anything. These make nice wedding favors. You might also consider dime or quarter size ball marker with your name and wedding date engraved. Divot fixers are another great wedding favor with the names engraved on it.

The cake for a golf wedding theme can be as fun to create as the wedding itself. Imagine a wedding cake in the shape of a golf course or one specific hole. You could have the little bride and groom standing on the cup in the middle of the green. This is so unique that not many people would think about making a cake like this for a wedding. This would go with your wedding theme so well. It is exciting when planning a golf wedding theme. You will have the most unusual wedding anyone has ever seen or heard about for a long time.

With the wedding being so interesting, it would be nice to receive some new golf clubs or even some golf balls for the game. You might even decide to take a golf trip for the honeymoon. Jamaica or Hawaii are a nice honeymoon destination and the golfing is superb. You can do so many different things when planning a golf wedding them, even when you do have a traditional wedding ceremony. However, you might decide to have your ceremony on the first tee, so the first game can be started right away. You can do anything you want for your wedding.

A Quick Course For The Golf Course: Does & Don'ts

Many people feel that all it takes is a few golf lessons and then suddenly upon completion they are experts. They are Tiger Woods in the making...so they feel. Before you begin, see if you can shadow someone at a golf club for free. Shadowing someone with more experience in the game will help your game. Just like in any sport, for example, foot ball, it would be ridiculous for a foot ball fan to where a tuxedo or his/her pajamas to a game.

-Wearing improper or uncomfortable gear on the golf course. Improper gear such as, tee shirts with word phrases or sayings that have nothing to do with golf such as:  'I've been married to my ball and chain for 20 years....HELP!' should not be worn on the course. When in doubt...stick to plain golf shirts with neutral shades such as white, beige, red, black purple and grey.

Another big no-no is wearing a shirt and tie with slacks and your everyday office shoes is in appropriate gear and should be saved for your next corporate meeting, not a golf game.

-Good manners are not just for the dinning room table or your favorite restaurant.' Before your first day on the course, make sure that you eat healthy. Save the chili hotdogs for the Super Bowl. Stay away from foods that cause gas and other ailments.

Make sure that you do not skip your meals. It would be tragic if you fainted and had to be carried to the hospital in a stretcher.

Golf is a very quite yet intense game. Leave the following things at home: Your 1980's radio box. Many people feel that every sport should include music, including their golf game. Save the music boxes for your next family reunion but

-If you are a pet lover leave your pets at home. Pets are not permitted on the golf course...it is not cute.

-Yelling and obnoxious talking is not permitted. Leave the talking for after the game. Whistling and singing are very poor etiquette.

-The ultimate don't is forgetting to place your cell phone on vibrate. The major don't is answering and making unnecessary phone calls while your opponent is putting.

-Practice truly does make perfection, especially during a golf game. Don't act as if you know everything there is to know about golf. If you do, you must have something to back it up like playing a good game.

A More Consistent And More Accurate Swing

When I get my golf club in my hand, I feel like knocking the cover right off the ball.  It makes me feel great when I hit the ball using all of my strength.  Just being able to hit the ball hard does not mean that I play a good golf game though. If you just want to relieve a little stress go ahead, by all means but this is better left to the driving range. If you want to play a good game of golf, you need to hold back on the power a little. One of the biggest mistakes that golfers' make is to swing their golf club too hard. This shows that you have power, but you need accuracy to play a good game of golf.

Tensing up can cause you to use too much effort. When you are swinging your golf club, you just need to relax and swing easily. This will help to reduce your power. Putting your feet closer together will also help reduce the strength of your swing. You should only use the amount of power that you are able to control.  Accuracy, not power is the key to playing a good game. Distance will come from a clean, correct swing, not by how much power you put into your swing. Tensing up when you are swinging your golf club will throw your balance off causing an inaccurate shot.   Your club head should travel in a straight line with the ball. A smooth consistent golf swing with very little effort should be your goal.  If the ball is hit correctly it will feel smooth and easy.

Your center of gravity is very important. You need a stable center of gravity that stays consistent. You can accomplish this by keeping your head still and both of your feet in the same position throughout your swing. You have to keep your feet planted firmly so that your weight is concentrated in your feet when you make contact with the ball.  This will make your center of gravity more stable. Focus on the ball and try not to jerk your body or move your head while swinging your club. This will throw your center of gravity off, causing a bad swing and an inaccurate shot.

A tip to help correct slicing is to see how centered you can hit the ball with your club and how low you can keep the ball.  If the ball flies too high, it can get caught up in the wind and can go left or right on rough ground.

After you master a smooth, more consistent and more accurate swing you may gradually want to increase your speed.

A Little Golf In Philadelphia

If you happened to be a regular member of one of its most exclusive main line private clubs, then Philadelphia was everything it was meant to be in the fraternity know as G-O-L-F. For unattached, unaffiliated players, the venues were generally mere after thoughts in most cases. However, the many dozens of top-daily-fee golf courses have debuted on Philadelphia's outskirts since the late 1990's. A handful of the finest and kindest newcomers around the nations' fifth largest city come to hear and see the excitement of a town for public golfers. If you can learn how to be a champion or a prized golf player in Philadelphia, you can learn how to play golf like an expert anywhere.

Forty minutes southwest of Philadelphia is a 175 year old school for the troubled you with the most bizarre study aid on its campus: a golf course. The Glen Mills School, a privately-funded educational facility for nearly 1,000 court-appointed, troubled and wayward teenage boys from around the nation, boasts of a golf course specifically created to serve as an outdoor vocational classroom.

At the Glen Mill s Golf Course, across a road from its Victorian-era buildings, students learn landscape, maintenance, golf course management, agronomy and maintenance mechanics. John Vogts, the school's superintendent, declares that the goal is to turn out technicians who can command respectable pay on the job market.

Built by Florida-based architect, Bobby Weed, the golf course layout is rugged, parkland  style design with a wilderness, rough-hewn feel. He felt that open fields, wetlands, streams and even forested uplands was considered

Relatively short for a golf course at 6,636 yards from the scratch tees, this golf course has plenty of teeth as it can't be overpowered. Bobby Weed built almost 170 bunkers, many of them quite nasty, sod-faced pits modeled after those on the old course at St. Andrews, Scotland.

Shot placement and course management are all vital on the tumbling track where slippery greens interwoven with walebacks and troughs are the ultimate equalizer. Creeks, bunkers and trees defend the corners of the dogleg par fives while the five par threes, well-varied in golf length, and play downhill up hill and over water. At eight and twelve, there's a pair "drivable" par fours although the penalty for a miscue is very severe. Weeds advice is to keep the ego in check to achieve the optimum score. As far as the conditioning at Glen Mills, many feel that it's first rate.

A History of Golf

What country invented 'golf?' Many countries did. If there were sticks and objects that could be hurtled along, then there was 'golf.' No one knows for certain who started golf. But everybody knows who plays it now   everyone does.

The origin of the name 'golf' is believed to be the Dutch word of 'colf,' which means 'club.' In the medieval ages, golf was also known as "spel metten colve,' which literally meant 'game with clubs.'

Nearly every area around the world has some claim to the origination of golf. Scotland, of course, has its claim. But so do China, Rome, England, France, Holland, Belgium, even Laos. Every country has a game consisting of sticks and balls, and every country is correct in its assumption that it invented the game. But there is no one country where 'golf' actually began.

Still, Scotland is widely considered to be birthplace of golf. And it began haphazardly, a way of hitting a pebble or other roundish object into a hole by means of a stick or club.

Edinburgh, Scotland, claimed the first golfing society. The Gentlemen Golfers   later known as the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers and today in residence at Muirfield   claim their club was already under way in 1744.

The first inter-Scotland club matches were played in 1857. The world would wait until 1860 for the first British golf Open to be played.

The British Open was being played 35 years before the U.S. Open. It has been called "The World Open." Players from around the globe participate, as they have for a century or more. The British Open is all-inclusive. The U.S. Open has been moving in that direction for the last decade. But the British Open has been accepting a cast from around the world since the turn of the century.

It is not known for certain when golf came to America   only that when it got a toehold in the 20th century, America became the world leader in great players. By 1900, the explosion of the game in America was complete. Proof was that, at the turn of the century, there were more golf clubs in the United States than there were in Britain.

Tiger Woods came upon the scene in 1996. He won eight times in 1999, nine times in 2000, and won the four major championships in succession in 2000-2001, starting with the U.S. Open in 2000. Should his career be as successful in his 30s and 40s as it has been in his 20s, he will assume the mantle of "best player ever."

Women have played a very large part in the history of golf, even before the last half of the 20th century when they finally achieved equality with men. Records of ladies playing golf exist all the way back to the time of Mary Queen of Scots.

A Good Golf Bag is important

Few things are more important to a golfer than a good golf bag. First off, golf bags come in many styles and a wide variety of colors. You can choose a bag for  style, features or pick a color to match your mood.

Some have legs that fold out when they are placed on the ground and stand upright so the golfer doesn't have to bend down and pick it up. That's a nice feature in golf bags, especially if the golfer tends to walk the course, as many do. There is plenty of bending to be done when a golfer is trying to remove an obstacle from around his or her ball, or to get the ball out of the cup, so any way to avoid bending over is more than appreciated.

All golf bags have compartments where the golf clubs are to be placed. Each golfer has his or her own way of doing this and putting clubs where he or she wants them. Some golfers, though, are lazy and just stick their clubs in the compartments, grabbing whichever one they want when a particular club is needed. But, some golf bags have tubes to protect the club grips. These are nice to have. With the tubes, a golfer can get his or her clubs out easier. The clubs are never tangled up, and the grips last a lot longer.

Another important factor in choosing a golf bag is the number of pockets it has. Frankly, there's no such thing as too many pockets in a golf bag. First, one of the pockets will be used to hold the golf bag's hood. The hood is used to keep the clubs and bag from getting drenched when it rains. Another pocket will be used to keep extra towels (believe it or not, extra towels are important in the summer to keep the sweat off the brow and out of the eyes, along with keeping the hands relatively dry. Then, there is the pocket used for keeping the extra golf tees and possibly the divot tool. Finally, a pocket is needed for the golf balls themselves, and it doesn't hurt to have a pocket to carry another dozen balls in, just in case.

Some courses are so difficult it is easy to lose a lot of balls during 18-holes of play. This makes having an extra box of balls around a good thing, but there has to be somewhere in the golf bag to keep them, which means another pocket.

Imagine trying to play golf without a bag. The golfer would be constantly stooping over picking up clubs, tees, balls, towels and the divot tool. Then he or she would have to walk to the ball, drop all of the clubs and stuff, select a club, hit the ball, and start the process all over again. It would be a major pain in the neck, and would make it nearly impossible to finish playing a round of golf. So, golf bags are an essential part of the game of golf.

A Golfing Tip For Better Control Of Your Body

The golfing tip I would like to give in this article is that by working on improving control over your body, you will in effect also gain more control over your mind.

This is simply because the mind gains more confidence that the body will be able to perform whatever instructions the mind communicates to the body.

This is the single golfing tip that has the potential of transforming any golfer's game literally overnight. Many times golfers work very hard on their minds and preparing them for the ideal golf game they would like to enjoy.

In fact many business executives, who have used the power of the mind to improve their businesses or even to build huge successful businesses, fully understand the potential of the mind in improving their golf games.

Still, many of them end up feeling discouraged and puzzled when things do not work out with their golf game quite the way they do in the corporate world.

They lack the simple golf tip that the game has a physical side to be taken care of, if one is to reap the full power of a mind prepared for ideal golf.

The second part of this golf tips is that there is only one known way of gaining better control of your body and it involves exercise.

Simple weight training that is golf-specific will instantly give you much better control over your body. When you strengthen your muscles, you improve functional strength which automatically gives you more control and balance. Some people believe that weight training will cause them to lose feel.

The weight training I am talking about in this golfing tip is not a program for weight-lifters and to build colossal muscles. This golfing tip is about the weight training specific to golf that conditions muscles used in golf and builds up strength.

This kind of program rather than making somebody lose feel, in fact increases feel tremendously.

This is an amazing golfing tip that is bound to have an profound impact on your game.

The island isn't Hilton Head, its Prince Edward Island...and the country is, of course, Canada.

A Prince Edward Island golf vacation offers ocean panoramas and courses created by renowned designers including Robinson, Hurdzan and Fry, Tom McBoom and others.

Crowbush Cove, boasting 18 holes over 6,901 yards, features nine water holes and eight holes near the famous dunes on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. World famous, it has been awarded a 5-star rating from Golf Digest and is listed among the "Sweet Sixteen" top courses worldwide.

From sunrise to sunset your choice of fairways for your PEI golf vacation comes with any number of backdrops including coastal dunes, breathtaking ocean views, and lush forests and rolling farmland. Wildlife abounds and you may well catch a peek at the endangered Piping Plover.

A vacation in the smallest of Canada's provinces need not be limited to golf. Prince Edward Island teems with as much or as little activity as desired. From simple walks along miles and miles of beaches, to hikes along nature trails; from cycling tours to paddling or deep sea fishing, there is something for every outdoor enthusiast.

Shopping, arts, crafts, music festivals and the finest of seafood dining are also requisites for any Prince Edward Island vacation be it golf or otherwise.

And as varied as your choice of golf courses for the duration of your vacation are the accommodation options offered by the island. From campgrounds to bed and breakfast through hotels and the finest of five star resorts, your vacation is truly your own creation.

This summer, set a course for a golf vacation to rival that of Hilton Head. Make it a Prince Edward Island golf vacation.

A Golf Specific Workout Will Energize Your Golf Game

A Golf specific workout designed specifically for your physical limitations will give you the greatest results in the quickest amount of time.  You may not be interested in this approach, but I can tell you quite confidently, this is the missing link to your golf swing improvement.  Your current physical capabilities dictate your golf swing.  There is no other way to put it.

There are certain physical requirements that must be met to make an optimal golf swing with maximum power and efficiency.  Have you tried to make a full backswing only to feel tight, restricted and tense doing so?  Do you think the answer is hitting more balls or taking more lessons?

The answer is a golf specific workout designed to eliminate your swing faults and poor golf swing mechanics.  The minute you improve these physical limitations, your golf swing will transform right in front of your eyes.

This may sound dramatic, but it's true.  When you're able to make a full backswing (90 degree shoulder turn, with a 45 degree hip turn) with no muscular tension or restrictions, you will be able to generate maximum clubhead speed and power into the golf ball.

You will also be able to repeat this for 18 holes.  This will result in less mishits, more fairways hit and scores that will drop quickly.  Doesn't that sound like the outcome you have been hoping for, for a long time?

One of the most important components of a golf specific workout is core rotational strength and flexibility.  The golf swing is a rotate back and a rotate through.  This entails your core to have optimal strength and flexibility from a rotational standpoint.  All other exercises should be a secondary priority when designing a golf specific workout.

The beauty of a golf specific workout is it can be done in your home with minimal equipment.  For less than $80, you can have a complete golf specific workout gym in your home, saving you hundreds of dollars a year in gym memberships, and also giving you back more time to play golf due to the convenience of doing it in your home with no travel time involved.

Knowing you're doing a golf specific workout that will enhance your golf game will motivate you to stick with it.  Adherence is key to your success.  So many people start fitness programs, only to quit before they saw any results.  Don't fall into the same trap.

Understanding it will take a little time for your body to respond to your golf specific workout will allow you to have realistic expectations.  But I can tell you, the results may show up very quickly if your current physical conditioning is below par.

It's never too late to embark on a golf specific workout program.  I have seen golfers in their 80's, who have increased their driving distance by up to 60 yards!  They were not able to get the ball air born, and now can make a bigger turn hitting the ball more solid and much further.

This is something you can't ignore!

Your golf improvement program should definitely incorporate practice, a few lessons to get a basic understanding of golf swing mechanics and most importantly a golf specific workout.

A Golf Fitness Tip Must Focus On The Golf Swing

There is no way that you can separate a good golf fitness tip from a good well executed golf swing. The golf swing is the most strenuous aspect of the game and a good golf fitness tip is one that helps you improve on your golf swing.

The basics of a proper golf swing are universal. A proper golf swing actually consists of three separate segments that every golfer should work on in their efforts to develop and improve their golf swing. A good golf fitness tip must be able to help a golfer achieve this objective.

The three segments of a golf swing are the backswing, the downswing and finally the impact and follow-through.

A useful golf fitness tip should be able to help as you carefully work on each of the three segments separately in an effort to get the right positions and movements. This is how golfers work on improving their golf swings.

Every proper golf swing starts at the legs and the hips and not the arms where many golfers place most of their attention and emphasis. This is precisely the reason why proper exercising that is golf-specific usually has such a huge impact on most people in terms of dramatically improving their golf games. A good golf fitness tip can address any of the golf muscles involved in this particular part of the golf swing.

The golf fitness tip can also address golf conditioning. Golf conditioning exercises have the effect of preparing the individual muscles and parts of the body used in a golf swing, so that your movements and follow-through come almost effortlessly and as naturally as possible. Without exercise, the proper golf swing movements only work to strain unprepared, weak and therefore tense muscles.

Although golf has always been viewed as a leisure sport, the truth of the matter is that the modern golf player has to condition his body and muscles in many parts of his body, not just arms.

Golf fitness tips can play a major role in improving the golf swing.

A Golf Fitness Exercise Program Will End Your Frustration On The Course

Even as you read this article, golf fitness exercise programs continue to positively revolutionize the games of many golfers around the country and indeed around the world. A golf fitness exercise program plays a major role in helping many golfers achieve consistent and good results on the course with their swing.

Still many golfers are yet to fully appreciate the potential of a golf fitness exercise program and many are not aware of the fact that they usually have a huge impact on a golfer's game.

A golf fitness exercise program will tend to concentrate on the muscles and parts of the body used when playing golf and especially during the golf swing. A useful golf fitness exercise program will be able to help any golf attain more flexibility as well as strength on the course. It is important to remember that most of the body is used for a golf swing.

Right from the feet to the knees, hamstring and hip, the lower part of the body is critical to the golf swing. Then there are the more obvious participants in the body like the arms and upper body and neck.

A golf fitness exercise program does a significant job of ensuring that most of these muscles are ready for the strain that golf usually exerts on them.

Usually a golf fitness exercise program combines dynamic strength and flexibility exercises, as well as stabilization and core strength. Most of these exercises can be done with simple handweights (dumbbells) and exercise tubing.

No gym required!

Too many golfers go to the gym, plop down on a machine and hope their game will get better. It usually doesn't. You've always got to keep the golf swing mechanics in mind when doing a golf fitness exercise program.

A Golf Fitness Coach Equals Great Golf

Golf fitness coach. Have you ever considered one...and if so, what exactly were you looking for? There are many 'general fitness' trainers trying to get a piece of the golf fitness and training market that seems to be rapidly gaining exposure both on the television and in print thanks to Tiger, Vijay and Annika.

But the first thing you need to consider when looking into hiring a golf fitness coach or program is the trainers experience in golf.

Yes...that is high on the list of requirements. Does he/she know golf? Do they know the biomechanics of the golf swing? How about muscle function during the golf swing?

An easy test is during the initial interview or if you're researching it online is to either ask very golf specific swing technique questions; or take a look at the information on the website. You'll find out real quick if this person or program can help your golf swing, game and health.

A golf fitness coach or program should incorporate strength, flexibility, endurance, body awareness, balance, stability and even a nutrition component.

It's easy for a trainer to have a strength component...but is it specific to golf? A quick test. Take a look at some of the exercises. Are any of them on seated machines for instance? If they are...run! This is NOT a golf fitness coach and/or program. This is considered 'general fitness'.

Now stretching. There are dozens of stretches for all people. But take a look at some of them. Do they even remotely look like they will benefit your golf swing?

Stretches involving trunk flexibility; lower back; hamstring; and even shoulders specific to the mechanics of the swing are what you want. General stretches are better than nothing, but will delay your results. You want specific stretches.

Body awareness. Does any of the exercises resemble golf positions or phases of the swing? Do they look like you would be on your feet and in your golf posture? As stated above, if they are seated on machines, your body will learn nothing in regards to your golf swing.

Training your body specific to golf incorporates positions almost identical to what your body would be in during any part of the golf swing.

Stability. Training your body to improve stability in your swing can get a little complex if you really want to see results. The swing happens at between 80-100 miles an hour. One of the biggest flaws of amateur golfers is moving in their golf swing.

Moving either laterally (sliding), vertically (up and done) or both. This is death to your golf swing. To improve your stability involves specific strength drills most trainers don't even know about.

I could go on-and-on about the requirements of a golf fitness coach or program. It is critical you make the right decision. I have heard horror stories of golfers working with 'so-called' golf fitness experts and their game getting worse. With the proper research this won't happen to you. So definitely consider a golf fitness coach.

A Golf Exercise Program Will Leave Your Playing Partners In Envy

It's no secret that a golf exercise program can put you heads and tails above your playing partners and competitors. Why do you think all the Pro's are doing it?

Golf is no longer just the leisure game it used to be. It is now recognized as an athletic sport. As with all other athletic sports, your body's strength plays a crucial part in how well you play the game.

FACT: A stronger body plays better golf. Most strength-building workouts can be beneficial to some degree, but a golf exercise program will enable you to hit longer -- and straighter -- drives with less effort and hit more accurate shots, which will consequently lower your scores.

GOLF TIP: Strengthen Your Back and Prevent Low Back Pain -- so that you can play 18 holes without fatigue

Did you know that doing even just one exercise will greatly improve the strength of your back so that you will be able to play 18 holes, or hit balls all day without any pain?

I call this powerful little exercise the "Lying Superman." You won't believe the amazing difference this exercise can make in your strength until you actually do it -- so go for it! All you have to do is lie on your stomach on the floor with your hands at your sides. Raise both your upper body (chest), arms and legs as high as you can. Hold it for a count of 10. And that's it! Just do this simple exercise for 2 sets every day and you can say goodbye to low back pain!

Playing golf at an optimum level requires muscular strength, power, and endurance. Contrary to what most people think, long practice sessions and hitting hundreds of balls will not improve these components. In fact, they will only result in physical injuries (from overuse) and a great deal of frustration.

Participating in a golf exercises program is the answer!

A Golf Driver Tip To Remember

Every golfer wants to know the best golf driver tip.  I hate to disappoint you but there are many great golf driver tips that could be the key to unlocking monster drives for you.  Every month the golf magazines have dozens of tips in them, but none of them get to the root of the problem.

If I were to get the opportunity to write a golf driver tip for a magazine, I'd say something against the norm.  Something teaching instructors wouldn't want to hear.  Do you want to know what it is?  It's not some quick fix, because they never work long-term.  The "only" thing that works long-term is working on you.

Your body has a current level of physical ability.  I don't care how many balls you hit at the range; how many lessons you take; and what driver you're swinging.  Hitting the ball further takes an increase in clubhead speed.  Period.  So hitting more balls or taking more lessons won't improve this.

The only thing that can improve clubhead speed is strengthening your core rotational strength and flexibility.  Your core is the engine to your swing.  A weak or inflexible core will not give you the results you are looking for.

The golf swing a turn back and a turn through.  Isn't that about as simple as you can make it?  If that's true, why wouldn't you improve your body's ability to rotate quicker and more powerfully?  This is the ticket to longer drives!

There are many simple, yet effective core rotational exercises you can do in your home, or even office to greatly improve your clubhead speed and driving distance.

Do you want an easy one you can do right in your chair?

Cross your arms in front of your chest.  Sit up tall and erect.  With a fixed head position, rotate to the right and left slowly.  See how far you can go.  Do this without stopping.  As you feel a loosening of the core, start to rotate faster and faster.  Do this 20 or 30 times when you think about it and I guarantee you'll feel it.

Since time is such a valuable commodity, you've got to get creative.  I've put together a complete section of my manual that covers simples stretches and exercises you can do right in your chair in your office.  You can't get more convenient than that.

I hope I didn't disappoint you with this golf driver tip.

A Golf Coach Is Important If You Want To Improve Your Game

Why would anybody need a golf coach when most of the famous golfers of old developed their game pretty much on their own? And besides, wouldn't a golf coach take away all the fun of the game and make the whole thing too serious to call a leisure activity anymore?

These are some of the many concerns amateur golfers have whenever the idea of a golf coach is suggested to them. Genuine concerns but mostly outdated because the modern game has changed a lot and continue to change.

One of the most distinct changes witnessed in the game is the wide acceptance of golf coaches, golf exercises and muscle conditioning programs in a sport that has for generations been viewed as a leisure sport with no room for any sort of exercising or muscle strengthening programs.

Has your golf game been getting just a little too frustrating in recent times? Have you been suffering many more humiliating defeats than is the case ordinarily?

Then there is the increasing possibility that you are playing against people who are involved in exercise programs and have a personal golf coach who has been helping them work on improvements in their game.

How can you possibly compete with a golfer who has such a huge advantage over you? How can you ever hope to enjoy your game of golf the way you used to in the days when a golf coach was a strange and uncommon phrase in the game?

Probably the biggest advantage of having a golf coach is that they are able to specifically work on your weaknesses using golf specific exercise programs to strengthen the muscles that are critical for you to play a good round of golf.

A golf coach will also help you avoid some of the common but painful and disruptive injuries of the game like the golfer elbow. They will help you avoid them by getting you to warm up properly before a round of gold and do stretches that will help you tone up to tip-top condition for your game.

What's more, is that there is no age limit in the golfers opting to get a golf coach to help them with their physicals. Even senior citizens are able to successfully implement the exercise programs into their game. In fact some have been able to get rid of nagging back injuries for good.

Do seriously consider engaging a golf coach.

A Golf Career Can Turn Your Passion Into A Lifestyle

Traditionally, golf jobs have not had specific educational requirements beyond those that are expected for the specific position (computer science education for an IT job, for example). Experienced golf players with a passion for the sport were hired and trained on the job. It is still quite possible to begin a golf career this way. However, if you want to make yourself more competitive in the field, you may want to consider a golf degree. A two or four year specialized degree will give you an edge over other competitors for available jobs.

A Golf Career for a Non-Player

If you love the sport but do not play, you can still find a great career in golf. Many of the available jobs required specialized knowledge and training in other fields, from marketing to telecommunications. Attending a golf academy in a management program can familiarize you with how the sport is played, adding additional knowledge to your repertoire and making you a more competitive candidate. Ultimately, however, it will be your personal skill set, combined with your passion for the sport, which will lead you to the perfect career.

If you love golf but never thought you could find a career in the field, now is the perfect time to explore golf career options. Golf has become big business, and thousands of professionals from a wide variety of fields are necessary to make the golf industry a success. Even if your playing skills are less than stellar, you may find a golf career that is perfect for you.

A Few Golf Tips From Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods is the undisputed king of professional golf. With a smooth technique you could set your watch by, he makes winning those championships look like a walk in the park.

Imagine if you could sit with Tiger for a few minutes and pick his brain to help improve your game. Here are some great golf tips from Tiger Woods.

It's All About Rhythm

Every player has their own natural rhythm. Some players are energetic and full of motion; others are stoic and deep in concentration.

Tiger says that when he's playing his best, everything he does is just second nature. He just goes with the flow, and there's little else involved. That's because he's found just the right groove that suits his natural rhythm.

If the rhythm's off, Tiger misses a swing or two. When things are flowing for him, he has to work a little to get it back into a natural rhythm.

So, how do you learn to keep your natural rhythm? There are a few ways Tiger suggests to help you find your groove and keep it.

Stick To Your Routine

Rhythm and consistency are important, so how you get ready both physically and mentally for the game is essential. Tiger has a practice routine that he does before every single game. He uses the same clubs, and the last club he uses for his pre-game warm-up is the one he plans to use for the first hole.

The point isn't to practice swinging, but to get into your groove.

The First Hole Is The Most Important of best golf fitness.

Long before he swings for that first hole, Tiger plans the whole game ahead. He prepares himself for the game mentally and emotionally. This involves relaxation, and deciding his game plan beforehand.

An awkward, uncertain first shot is a sure-fire rhythm-killer.

Keep Things Steady

To keep your rhythm going, you have to keep the tempo steady. When you get stressed, you start to speed things up. All that nervous energy makes you hurry to the next hole, and you end up making silly mistakes you wouldn't have made otherwise.

The next time you watch Tiger play, pay attention to the way he walks to the next hole. Even after a great shot, you'll never see him rush on to the next one. He'll pump his fist, smile, and stroll to the next hole with the same leisurely pace.

Tiger recommends a good pre-routine warm-up that helps you get into a relaxed frame of mind. This will get you started on the right foot. For more info see http://www.getgoodatgolf.com/ on golf course.

Posture Means Perfect

When asked for practical golf tips, Tiger Woods always mentions posture. Tiger always stands straight and tall, a decent distance from the ball so that he can keep his chin up. Lots of golfers (including Tiger when he was a beginner) put their address position too close to the ball, and end up having to bow their head down too much. Tiger says to keep a good distance away so you don't have to lean over the ball.

Tiger Woods is not only one of the best players, he's also one of the most reflective. Perhaps the key to his success is his ability to look at his mistakes and shortcomings, and work to improve them, instead of getting frustrated. This is why his golf tips are so helpful to his fans. When you blow it, think about why you did it. Then, correct it next time, and you'll see improvement.

A Closer Look At Tiger Woods Golf Swing

Golfers didn't used to focus so much on fitness as part of their golf training. It seemed unnecessary to spend your time doing stretches and exercises that worked out parts of the body that weren't "golf-specific."

Then, along came a 20-year-old kid who blew all these old golfers out of the water, hitting 180 mph balls off the tee. The era of Tiger Woods had come.

Suddenly everyone wanted to unlock the secrets of the Tiger Woods golf swing. It was obvious he had a different way of going about things, and eventually this young golfer would change the way we train and play.

There's more than just the mechanics of the swing. Let's take a look at what makes Tiger Woods golf swing so solid.

It's All About Keeping Fit

One reason Tiger can swing like that is that he's flexible and strong. If you need any evidence that a good overall fitness program to build strength and flexibility is essential for a great golf swing, look no further than our man Tiger.

Tiger Woods knows that golf is a full-body sport. That's why he follows a rigorous training routine that includes the whole body and not just golf-specific exercises. He has always advocated weight training and stretching as part of a golf practice routine.

It's All About Energy

Tiger uses every little bit of energy he can. When he swings, he turns his body fast while gently pushing his right leg (the back leg in his swing) forward. The result is that no energy is wasted. All the potential energy he's built up in the backswing gets released, and the full force of it hits that ball.

He can do this because he has a strong core. The study of biomechanics has taught us the ways in which all the parts of the body work together to give you a good golf swing. The core is your lower body and torso. When you swing at a golf ball, your core is like the axis, and the rest of the body rotates around it.

A perfect golf swing like Tiger's involves efficiently winding up and storing your body's natural energy, then releasing it in a natural and controlled way.

It's All About Smooth, Natural Movement

But, it's not over when he hits the ball. After he smacks the ball, he lets his body follow through and finish that rotation. The club ends up behind his back. He lets it swing freely around him, allowing it to follow its natural course.

Tiger swings all the way through the ball. Stopping the full rotation before it reaches its natural end tenses up your body, and can have a disastrous effect on how you hit the ball. Swinging all the way through adds distance to your shots. This is why he lets the rotation follow all the way through.

It's All About Your Mind

Finally, Tiger Woods keeps relaxed. It's hard enough to keep yourself relaxed when you're making a shot with your friends, but imagine when the entire golfing world is watching! But, keeping cool is essential in golf, more than any other sport, and Tiger never loses it out on the green. For more info see http://www.getgoodatgolf.com on golf course.

If you follow these tips, you'll be just as good as Tiger Woods in no time. Just kidding. But seriously folks, watch Tiger Woods golf swing and you'll see your own game improve.

A Budding Golfers Guide To A Good Pair Of Golf Shoes

Golf is a low impact sport that is normally for leisure. But playing the greens can be psychologically intensive as it can be physically demanding. Golf is normally played by professionals and executives to unwind and take time off from the hassle and bustle of the corporate world. But for some who indulge in the sport, it can be an activity where they can make or break business deals.

Golf has been a man's game, with all that metal involved. These are the golf equipments that can bring out the wolf amongst the sheep. It can be the determining factor on how serious of a golfer you are. Packing in iron and wood clubs that have titanium shafts really show that you're in the game.

Budding golfers tend to focus more on the clubs, spending time researching and reading about it before they buy, but not really giving an equal amount of importance on golf shoes. Golf shoes are there not just for the looks of it, it also has its functions. The most sellable pair can be those worn by a sports celebrity endorser because golfers only took a couple of minutes to decide what to buy. A rather uncanny way of selecting something that could help you shave a few strokes off the game.

Playing golf for 3 to 5 hours a game, walking miles and miles of uneven terrain and exposing oneself to the blazing sun can be exhausting and painful to the feet. These factors can contribute to fatigue and may alter your swing form. It is advisable to wear golf shoes that have a half inch allowance on the toes so the foot won't be cramped inside. Wearing a pair that has a bigger allowance can tip you off form since your feet are not thoroughly fastened. Normally good golf shoes are tight on the mid and rear foot section since this is where the balance comes from. Having worn the wrong type of shoes in playing golf can lead to injury since rubber shoes that are for running and cross training can be slippery on a wet turf and may cause the golfer to slip on the follow through. Some golf courses don't allow these shoes for it can damage the green due to its spikes.

It is important to wear golf shoes that are soft so the feet won't get swollen after playing the full 18 holes. Another thing to consider would be if the shoes are waterproof as golf is an outdoor sport and it might rain in the middle of the game. For beginners, it can be good to wear cleats with the shoes to provide more grip to the turf for that needed balance when swinging especially if the turf is wet. But cleats can destroy the greens and the fairways so the better the golfer gets the less likely he will need the cleats.

A Bad Golfer & Comon Mistake You Will Find Every Time

Fascinatingly enough a bad golfer is consistent enough with his/her consistent mistakes and poor play, that it promotes even more bad golf and frustration.

Actually a bad golfer ignores or is unaware of what has to be the single most important aspect of the golf swing. This is the setup or positioning before the swing.

It does not matter how good your swing is and how much correct technique you have used. If you do not pay attention to your swing, you are a bad golfer and it will clearly show when you have hit the ball.

All great golfers are aware of how important the setup is and you can be sure that many bad golfers are not. If you setup correctly for a shot, chances are extremely high that you will hit a good shot. So important is your setup that even if you swing poorly in a good setup position, you are bound to at least hit a reasonable shot.

A good setup will enable you achieve a good posture and the sort of balance that will help you maintain balance and inevitably control throughout the shot.

The correct setup comes with correct training and even more important; exercising and conditioning of the muscles you use in your entire body for the golf swing. A bad golfer will more often than not be the sort of person who does not do golf-specific exercises aimed at improving their golf. The result is that they will not even be able to tell the difference between a good setup position and a bad one, simply because they will tend to feel uncomfortable in both.

It is amazing but true that all it takes to move you swiftly to the ranks of a good golfer from amongst the majority of bad golfers is a simple exercise routine, most of which you can even do from your office while you work.

2005 US Open Winner - What Does It Take?

As the 2005 US Open began in Pinehurst, NC, the name Michael Campbell wasn't being touted as likely to finish first. Michael had attempted in four previous Opens and had not survived the weekend. Fortunately his final round of 1 under 69 gave him the two stroke lead he needed to earn a victory over the top ranked player in the world, Tiger Woods. How did Michael keep his composure with Woods making a charge on the back nine? Was it sheer confidence? Skill? Just what was the winning combination for Campbell?

Many traits and abilities go into the makings of a Major champion. Not the least of which is fitness and conditioning for their task at hand. While professional golfers are the envy of many, these people must adhere to a regimen few are willing to take on. As we watch the rounds, it all looks so easy. Yet, behind the scenes...

Today's professional golfer, more than ever before, must concentrate on something other than simply technique and skill. The new golf technologies claim much of the increased distance, control and power now available to golfers. New technology is really only a small portion of the emerging changes in play.

Almost every professional golfer today spends more time conditioning their body for golf than ever before. They realize the competition is tough and that in order to maintain consistently controlled and powerful golf swings their body must be strengthened and flexible. Their time is well spent on functional strength and flexibility conditioning for the body. The goal of functional golf exercises is to mimic the actual demands on the body of the golf swing. This approach helps accomplish two things at once 1) improve the targeted muscle group's strength and flexibility and 2) condition the intramuscular system with movements exactly like those required on the course.

All golfers would do well to learn from the pros in the area of fitness and conditioning. The golf swing is a complex movement, requiring much from the body. Regularly performing strength and conditioning exercises can produce a more flexible and stronger musculoskeletal system.   As higher levels of  golf fitness   accomplished, you can generate more power with less effort. This translates to a smoother swing with greater club head speed, thus lower scores result. Fitness for golf is rapidly becoming the norm; start today to ensure many years of rewarding play on the course.

25 Lanzarote Attractions - Teguise Golf

Before telling you about my particular day out at Teguise Golf, the more avid golfers amongst you will probably want to know what views they can expect to see and the technical stuff that goes with playing golf.  For me it was simply a great opportunity to spend a morning with a former work colleague (Colin) and his son (David) as they were staying in a neighbouring villa on La Goleta, part of the wider Faro Park Development.

The course runs along the side of an old volcano (no surprise there given Lanzarote's landscape) and has inspirational views of volcanic lava, cacti and over includes over 3,000 palm trees and has superb views of the Atlantic Ocean throughout.   A Golf course such as this one, is quite simply, in my opinion, nature at its best.   César Manrique, the man who taught the people of Lanzarote to care for their natural habitat has clearly left his influence everywhere. If you are a Golf 'anorak', you might also want to read the next paragraph of technical data ?  If you're not, simply skip over it.

The course measures 6041m (White) ; 5582m (Yellow) ; 5289m (Blue) ; and 4938m (Red).  Generally, visitors play off the blue tees.  The Slope Rating of the course is 127 (White) ; 127 (Yellow) ; 130 (Blue) ; and 124 (Red)
We played off Blue Tees. The course measures 5289 Metres (5791 Yards for the non converts) and is a Par 72 course.

I've since found out that the course was designed by British landscape architect John Harris and built in 1978.  It is a truly a fantastic course, not only because of its design but also thanks to the excellent condition in which it is kept all year round and at Easter (April 2006), it was in superb condition. Given its location, it benefits from a warm and pleasant climate all year round, tempered only by sea breezes from the island's almost constant trade winds.  The course is designed to be smooth yet varied. It has more than your average number of doglegs, designed to test your ability (or lack of it) and allows you to bring all your clubs into play. It will test everyone from scratch players to those of us with more modest ability.

The Following services can be found at the Club - Club hire, trolleys, buggies, driving range, pro-shop and club storage. There are separate male and female changing rooms and you can hire lockers.  There is a Bar and Restaurant. The restaurant offers a varied menu, based on Mediterranean cuisine.

The prices vary according to season.  In the "Summer" months (1st June to 30th September) it costs 53 Euros (for 18 Holes) and 36 Euros (for 9 Holes after 4pm).  In the "Winter" (we played in Winter and it was scorching !), it costs 65 Euros (18 Holes) and 52 Euros (9 Holes after 3pm).  The Course has discount agreements with most of the hotels on the island, so check at your hotel, or check out a nearby hotel if you're in private accommodation as you can often get a better deal than this by doing so.

And so, to our day out.  We planned to set off at 7am from our 'home' in Playa Blanca (the idea being not to spoil the day for others and  'Brownie Points' for everyone !.

There was to be four of playing, but that quickly became three when Gary ("The Rainman") decided he was on holiday and was not coming to Golf at 7am (given that he left the British Open on Faro Park at midnight the night before (to prepare for golf), I was very surprised to get the "Dear John " text first thing in the morning.  Gary's nickname is a long story, but basically when its cold he wants it hot and when it's hot he prays for rain (and usually gets it, so I'm not that keen on going on holiday with him !)

The three of us (Colin, a work colleague, his son David and yours truly) set off around 7:30am and we drove along the LZ-2 and then headed towards San Bartholme and then into Costa Teguise (avoiding Arrecife !)
When we arrived we were told it was members day (Saturday !) and that they had no tee times for 3 hours.  A quick bit of lateral thinking later, we asked if we could play 10-18 and then get a Tee time for 1-9 which they agreed to (something you'd almost expect them to suggest in the UK, so ask if you need to)

We decided we'd have a 'friendly' game of singles (if there is such a thing) - Loser buys the beers at the 19th hole.

We played stableford, off full handicaps (you'll need them).  To cut along story short (ish), Colin was 'flying', I was struggling to even stay in touch and David, well David was having a bad day (it's just as well he hired his clubs !).  Colin was five points in front with five to play before he decided to show us his impression of "Devon Loch" (he's the horse that collapsed of exhaustion 50 yards from the finishing line in the 1956 Grand National when leading by 20 lengths !)

Going up the 18th Colin was one behind (but I did not rub it in, honest) !

Colin tells me his wife Jackie really enjoyed her first trip to the island and that they may return.  I'm sure if we ever go 'into combat' again, David will have been the range beforehand to shake off the cobwebs and Colin will make sure that he does not sprint when it's a marathon.

Me, well I had my day !

10 Ways to Increase Your Energy Instantly with a Golf Performance Diet

A golf conditioning program should always be accompanied by a solid golf nutrition plan. In essence, what you eat determines how you play. So, which foods produce champions and which foods hinder play? Let me give you a few hints.

It goes without saying that proper nutrition is important for all of us. But, if you are serious about shaving valuable strokes off your scorecard, you need to make some tough decisions on seeing your diet through. If you travel for golf, or play in frequent tournaments, it is important not to fall into the trap of 'settling' for fast food or a quick bag of chips or chocolate bar. Make a commitment to use some or all of the following tips and your energy will reach new heights in your next round.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Both of these are diuretics and cause fluid loss. They also both affect  golf performance. Coffee can over stimulate your mind or your muscles, making your performance uncontrolled. Excessive consumption of alcohol severely affects your coordination.

Avoid large amounts of food in the two hours leading up to tee time. Food in your digestive system diverts blood away from your brain and muscles, affecting concentration and physical performance. A meal two to three hours before play is preferred.

Don't skip meals. Golfers need that slow and steady release of energy to see them through difficult or long hours of play. Smaller meals are better to help increase metabolism.

Eat 5 to 6 small meals throughout the day. This gives your body the nutrition it needs to last.

Drink lots of water. Think in terms of 8 to 10 glasses each day. Continue throughout your round to stay hydrated especially during the summer months.

Combine carbohydrates, proteins and fats at each meal. This aides in overall digestion and ensures you are getting the proper nutrients.

Bring a snack or bag lunch. Beverage carts are not known for healthy choices, so don't put yourself in a position to feel forced to rely on them.

Avoid high processed foods or sugar based foods. They tend to raise blood sugar levels quickly and, then, drop rapidly causing fatigue.

Stick with the basics. Don't try new foods just before you play. Stick with what you know your body responds well to.

Keep it simple. There is no need to make elaborate meals or go to great extent in preparation. A piece of fruit and bag of nuts will go a long way in replenishing energy when you need it.

As a golfer, especially if you are of a championship caliber, it is essential to have a wide variety of complex carbohydrates to maintain your energy through an 18-hole match or a 72-hole tournament.

Mentally your brain needs to stay conditioned to tell your body what to do, not to mention calculating distances, swing strength and maintaining focus. Follow these 10 tips and watch your scorecard drop to new lows.

9 Tips for playing well under pressure.

Get Every Putt to the Hole

In team formats, it pays to get the ball to the hole, if only to give your partners a good read. Most putts come up short because the player decelerates on the through-stroke. Instead, make sure your through-stroke is as long or slightly longer than your backstroke.

Minimize Your Swing Thoughts

Keep your game plan simple. Put it on a piece of paper on the cart steering wheel and refer to it before each full shot.

Preshot: Visualize what you want the ball to do.

Address: Align the clubface where you want the ball to go.

Swing thought: Freely swing the clubhead.

Survive The First-tee Jitters

Nervousness makes you speed up your tempo, which affects consistency and accuracy. Take several deep breaths as you get ready to hit, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Swing your driver smoothly, like you want to hit it only 100 yards.

Make More Tough Short Putts

Playing a format that requires you to putt everything out? Set your putterface square to the desired line, then square your feet and shoulders to that line. Make a smooth stroke while looking at the target, not at the ball.

Take More Club on Par 3s

Few amateurs hit the ball over or through the green on par 3s; most come up short. Select a golf instruction club that will get you to the yardage at the back of the green. If you hit it flush, you're on; if you hit it less than solidly, you still might make it to the putting surface.

Score Lower on Par 5s

Take a "do the math" approach. Most par 5s are 500 yards or more. Make the last shot your favorite yardage into the green. Subtract that yardage, then divide the difference by two. With this strategy, you're hitting lofted clubs that are easier to hit and more accurate.

Get Out of the Sand in One Try

Good greenside bunker players accelerate the clubhead through the shot, letting the sand "splash" the ball out. Set up with the face of your sand wedge slightly open, the ball slightly forward in your stance. Hit the sand behind the ball, and finish your swing like you're hitting a full 5-iron.

Chip with Your Putting Stroke

To avoid chunking or skulling your chip shots, take a lofted club like a 7-, 8- or 9-iron and grip it like your putter. Lean the shaft and your body toward the target for a slightly descending blow. Make your putting stroke, allowing the loft of the club to carry the ball over the unpredictable turf onto the green.

Get Your Irons Airborne

Most topped shots occur when you try to help the ball into the air with a scooping motion. To hit down on the ball, set up with more weight on your left foot than your right. Take the club back more vertically and return it on a downward angle of attack.

8 Types Of Golf Course Jobs For Career-bound Individuals

Many golf enthusiasts decide not to pursue a career in the field because they are afraid there are not enough jobs available.  However, the golf industry is quite large, and with such a variety of possible positions that no one who has chosen golf as a career need fear unemployment or underemployment.  The possible positions listed below represent golf course jobs, only a small slice of what is available in the golf industry.

Golf course training and instruction:  Golf is an incredibly popular sport, which means that there is always a wealth of aspiring golfers seeking instruction.  Many golf courses keep several instructors on staff.  Providing training right there on the golf course means convenience for customers, more money for the golf course, and, of course, more jobs for professional golf experts.

Clubhouse food service crew and management:  One of the types of golf course jobs that no one ever thinks of is food service.  However, restaurant-quality food and drink is often the cornerstone of a golf course clubhouse, as it offers refreshment and creates a comfortable atmosphere.  Golf course jobs focused around clubhouse food service include the kitchen's crew, chefs, wait staff, and management.

Grounds care:  The entire existence of a golf course is dependent on the condition of the grounds.  Therefore, some of the most important golf course jobs are related to grounds care.  Chemical technicians handle the fertilization and other chemical care of the grass, while irrigation specialists ensure that the grass is well watered.  A turf manager or groundskeeper oversees all of the grounds care personnel.

Equipment operation and maintenance:  The daily business of running a golf course requires the use and maintenance of many pieces of equipment.  Golf course jobs usually include equipment operators, who are overseen by an equipment manager.  A maintenance team, including crewman and a maintenance manager, keep the equipment in good working order and handle maintenance scheduling.

Golf merchandise sales and store management:  A merchandise store is another important facet of any thriving golf course and clubhouse.  An on-site store provides a convenient place for members to purchase equipment and clothing.  Personnel needed to run the store usually includes sales associates and at least one manager.

Human Resources personnel:  As you are no doubt beginning to see, a successful golf course represents a coming together of many different employees.  As with any such workplace, a successful golf course usually includes a team of Human Resources personnel.  These professionals handle tasks such as the hiring of new employees for available golf course jobs.

Public Relations or advertising personnel:  As a thriving business, many golf courses must also manage a great deal of public relations interactions, such as advertising.  Golf course jobs therefore include positions to handle the writing of advertisements and video scripts, the photographing of the grounds for colorful ads, and a spokesperson to handle all communications with the press.

Golf course management and ownership:  A golf course is a well-oiled machine, but in order for all the moving parts to remain in good working order, there needs to be a manager to oversee it all.  The manager may also be the golf course owner in some cases.

As you can see, there are many golf course jobs available.  The careers described here are only the tip of the iceberg.  The golf industry also includes areas such as pro golfing, tour planning and management, and luxury golf resorts.  With the range of positions available throughout the industry, no one trained for a golf career need ever worry about not being able to find a job.

8 Important Steps To Achieve The Perfect Golf Swing

To people who are new to the world of golf but, nevertheless, are intending to play the sport, one factor that they should focus on is the perfect golf swing. To mention some other factors, there are a lot such as, the golf equipments, the direction of the wind, the golf ball and the player himself, but still, the precision of the swing is the causal factor on the success or flop of playing golf.

I'll get a few suggests that would help you to get your goal of becoming a professional in playing golf. These are the basics, but, where did Tiger Woods begin, anyway?

1. Know what your forces are. Can you attain a certain angle that would give you the perfect golf swing? Do you have a good balance? What about your playing stance? Do you have an agile and highly flexible body that could go with the force of your swing? These are just a few initial questions that you have to answer before you put up the sport.

2. Obtain help from professionals through coaching. Coaching does wonders. You could either have a one on one or you could start purchasing a few materials that are already available in the market. An example of this stuff is the Tac Tic Golf Trainer. The Tac Tic is much like a personal coach because it adjusts the inaccurate positioning that someone makes on a golf swing. It warns you of your incorrect grip by giving out a click so this would allow you to change the alignment of your wrist. Aside from wrist alignment, it as well betters your swing curve.

2. Practice, practice and practice again. The perfect golf swing is made only through constant practice. Tiger Woods was known to practice even in the worst weathers.

4. Aside from the Tac Tic, additional aids on training for the perfect swing admit videos and manuals that you could watch and study. But you have always to remember that only studying or watching would just give you the theory of achieving what you actually want to achieve. Practice would quiet be the key at the close of it all.

5. No training stuff or equipment is the most perfect for any individual. What you'd find to be helpful could be not of much help to somebody else. Take a manual or a training video that would fit you and begin practicing the skills that are taught there to finally achieve the perfect golf swing.

6. To have a good back swing, ensure that the force comes from your arms and not from your hands. It should be done in one, clean, sweeping movement.

7. The down swing, on the other hand, calls for precision in speed. A good advice on this is to pull your left arm coming from the top.

8. To make a successful sweep, the finish should be done high enough. The main key there is to transfer left. You can tell that you have made a good finish if your right knee is facing the target with your right foot up. Spikes of your shoe should be seen. Your hands should be high up very near your left ear.

Although it is often reported as the perfect golf swing, to have the perfect golf swing is quite mythical. Constant practice would just make you well-situated with a stance that you can eventually work with and are comfortable with. Anyway, it is really important, that you enjoy the golf sports and look forward to do it every time.
